Expensive, yes, but once you try them you won't
want to wear anything else. Backpacker's will hike many miles a day while carrying heavy
loads, and they are very particular about their gear. When BackPacker magazine gave
SmartWool socks their "Edtitor's Choice" award we had to take a look. The
SmartWool people have found a way to "Terrycloth" fine Merino wool. The inside
of these socks looks like a plush bath towel The amount of cushioning is amazing, and they
don't itch! They are also blister resistant and machine-washable and dryable!
